Where does the word "Ostinato" originate?
What do Grande, Mezzo
and Piccolo mean?
Ostinato, comes from the Italian word "obstinate" meaning obstinate or persistent. In music, ostinato is a short melodic phrase or rhythm pattern that is repeated throughout the composition.
Each scarf pattern starts with a single photographic image. The image is adjusted and repeated to create a custom design template. This custom template is replicated across the width and length of the fabric. When seen at a distance, the overall pattern is perceived. When seen up close, the details and colors in the pattern can be isolated.
These terms refer to the sizes of the scarves. As we add new designs to the collection, we are also adding different sizes. Many of our customers have requested smaller scarves and we are happy to share these new sizes with you. GRANDE is the original collection of large scarves. MEZZO is a new collection of medium sized scarves. PICCOLO will showcase a new line of designs, such as twillies and pocket squares.
What is a limited edition?
Limited edition is a term that is used to describe an issue of something collectible (such as scarves, pictures, or books) that is restricted to a limited number of copies. Each of these scarf designs have an edition of one hundred. Each design has two sizes with an edition of fifty per size. When the edition is sold out, that scarf design will be retired and no further copies of that particular design will be made.
What fabrics are used?
All scarves are printed on 100% silk. The design studio is exploring other silks and silk blends. Stay tuned for updates.
How do I place my order?
Once you find the item you would like to purchase, click the "Add to Cart" button in the product's description page. You can check the contents of your cart at any time by clicking the "Cart" button at the top of the page. If you decide to remove an item from your car, just click "Delete" to the right of the product you would like to remove. You can also adjust the quantity of any product in your shopping cart. To do this, type in the new quantity and the the cart will automatically adjust the quantity in the shopping cart. Assuming the quantity you have requested is available, you will now see the adjusted quantities as well as your new subtotal. If you enter a quantity that is greater than the quantity available, your purchase quantity will reflect the maximum quantity available.
What means of payment are accepted?
Mary Farmilant Studios accepts payment by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover), online through our secure server. We also accept payment by PayPal and Apple Pay. We are unable to accept:
• Verified by Visa cards
• MasterCard with SecureCode cards
• Bitcoin
Please note that credit cards will be charged after an order has shipped, although you may see a reserve amount placed on your card at the time the order is placed.
Is my payment secure?
All the transactions made on the MaryFarmilant.Design website are secure. The padlock symbol next to the address bar of the page beginning with "https" indicates that you are in a secure setting. The payment processors used for payment transactions have established specific security measures to protect your personal information from non-authorized access and use. However, you should never consider the transmission of data by Internet to be 100% secure. Any information that you make available online can potentially be recuperated and used by third parties.
Can I return or exchange my order?
All sales are final and cannot be returned or exchanged.
How soon can I expect my order?
The delivery time will depend primarily on two factors: item availability and shipping service. If the scarf is in stock, the average order will arrive within 5-7 business days. This can change depending on the shipping service you choose. The studio works to keep all the designs in stock, however, sometimes during the holiday season that is not possible. If the scarf is not in stock, the scarf can take up 4-6 weeks.
Item Availability:
Unless otherwise noted, all items available for purchase on the website are in stock. Items that are backordered contain a note indicating this fact as well as the expected delivery time frame.
Shipping Service:
During checkout, we will show you a list of available shipping services and their corresponding prices and timeframes. You may also view shipping charges and timeframes through the "Calculate Shipping" link in the shopping cart. If we determine that we will not be able to deliver an order within the promised timeframe, we will immediately contact you via email.

We offer free FedEx ground shipping for orders over $200 within the continental U.S. We also offer two-day shipping for $25 and next-day delivery options for $35. Additional shipping information is available during the checkout process.
How do I track delivery of my order?
A FedEx tracking number will be emailed to you when your order is shipped. By entering your tracking number on the FedEx tracking website, you will be able to track the status of your package.
Can you deliver to a P.O. box?
For security reasons, Mary Farmilant Studios will not process any order for which a P.O. box address has been provided.
